My Experience with CAT / My MBA Dream - 1

Being my first post in this blog, I'll start this one with my experience with the recently concluded CAT'07 and my dream of doing an MBA from an elite B-School( A+ category, preferably IIM's ). Hereafter, I'll be writing any stuff that is somehow related to the tags - MBA, CAT, LIFE,General awareness etc. in this blog.

Ever since I joined my engineering school, I've been enjoying life, never concentrated on the studies and never bothered about my CGPA. When I look back and retrospect the things, I came to know that I've wasted a lot of precious time, which I could have made a better use of. Nevertheless I'm happy that I came to know of my shortcomings and trying to correct them. It's better late than never.

When I was in the fag end of sophomore years of my engineering life, a sort of fire ignited deep inside me to achieve something big. One reason is that : I lost to JEE twice eluding me the dream of joining IIT's and the other reason is that I never felt satisfied with the kind of education I'm receiving in my present school. Added to this I chose the dual degree thereby screwing up my valuable 5 years of engineering life in this fucking school. Mind you, I'm not exaggerating the things. They are what they are.

At the start of my pre-final year, I've decided to go with either MS or MBA after I complete my dual degree here. " It would have been better If I'd have decided only one of them" . I think I should cut his MS part here as it is beyond the scope of this blog. I've joined Career Launcher class room programme. The in charge of our center used to take classes of Quant and DI and he taught us very well. He himself got around 12-15 IIM calls in the past 5-6 years. But there's not much emphasis laid on the EU/VA part which of course would be weakest section for a typical engineer. My friends used to blame the faculty for not taking much classes on language. But I used to argue that : Unlike Quant and DI, there's not much in Language that is to be taught in the class rooms. Now after I gave my first CAT, I can definitely say that CAT exam simply tests your command on the language skills and your reading skills, which one may have developed for the past few years. More on how one should prepare for the EU/VA section later.
